2026 Fort Ransom Sodbuster Wagon Train

The Fort Ransom Sodbuster Wagon Train was organized to help celebrate Fort Ransom State Park’s 50th anniversary. On Wednesday, Sept. 9, teamsters and riders gathered at Nome, ND, to prepare for the 2-day, 30-mile trip. The wagon train consisted of 16 wagons, 5 horseback riders and 45 people.

Thursday morning the wagon train left Nome and headed west through Kathryn and south for their evening stop. Everyone enjoyed an evening meal and shared stories while the horses rested after a long day. Friday morning everyone was eager to start out for the last leg of the drive to Fort Ransom State Park. The wagon train snaked south on the Sheyenne Valley Scenic Drive and arrived at the park about 3 p.m.
